Florian Wirtz's agent, Volker Struth, attempted to orchestrate a move for the German international to Real Madrid last summer.
Struth contacted then-Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, who had previously worked with Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen, to encourage the transfer.
Alonso reportedly directed Struth to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, whom Struth then messaged directly to recommend Wirtz.
The transfer to Real Madrid did not materialise due to the club's squad composition and budget limitations at the time.
Wirtz ultimately signed with Liverpool in a £116m deal, and despite a mixed start, is beginning to find his form at Anfield.
