Chandler Parsons issues important Jaylen Brown warning to Team USA

Jaylen Brown has spent this season silencing doubters and proving that he is a bona fide top option. In a year where he earned his first-career start in the NBA All-Star Game, the Marietta, Georgia, native has put himself into the MVP conversation.

Brown is averaging 29.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per tilt. He is knocking down nearly 50 percent of his field goal attempts. He has also sustained the most attempts and finishes per game on drives while simultaneously ranking in the top six in shots made from the mid-range, [according to NBA.com](https://www.nba.com/stats/players/shooting?DistanceRange=By%20Zone&dir=D&sort=Mid-Range%20FGM).

"Now, with no shadow around him, you get to see Jaylen for Jaylen," [voiced Marcus Smart](https://hardwoodhoudini.com/marcus-smart-nailed-people-missing-jaylen-brown-career-year) during a pregame conversation before the Boston Celtics' 111-89 victory vs. the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Chandler Parsons begs Team USA to put Jaylen Brown on their next Olympic roster

On a recent edition of "Run It Back" on FanDuel TV, the conversation surrounding the Celtics' star wing began by addressing recent dialogue comparing Jaylen Brown's career to Jayson Tatum's. The specific declaration, made by Chris Canty on ESPN Radio, is that the former has had the better career if he goes on to win the NBA's MVP Award this season.

"I don't like to start putting these two against each other," said Chandler Parsons when host Michelle Beadle introduced the topic. "We're not about to start this again," responded Lou Williams.

That's when Parsons pivoted, turning his focus to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

"The one thing I'd like to say to Jaylen Brown and Team USA is, 'Please God, get him on the team.' Whatever the beef was, whatever the situation was, he is probably the first, second, third best American player right now that we have," stated Parsons. "If he's not on Team USA, that is a huge botch by this country and Grant Hill. So, we need him on Team USA."

Brown, coming off capturing the Eastern Conference and NBA Finals MVP awards, infamously did not make Team USA's men's basketball roster in the summer of 2024. The friction between the five-time All-Star and Grant Hill, the program's managing director, played out for public consumption.

Brown will be 32 in the summer of 2028. If he's healthy, he figures to remain a top option for a roster spot. There's ample time for the two sides to hash out their differences and add a star wing who, even in his 10th year in the NBA, continues to grow his game. Barring a caveat, like an injury, when the 2028 Summer Olympics arrive, at the moment, even when projecting, it feels like it would be a terrible blunder if he's not representing Team USA.
