ESPN's Dan Garziano and Ben Solak called Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles a trade fit for San Francisco 49ers cornerback Renardo Green.

The Philadelphia Eagles possessed one of the better pass defenses during the 2025 NFL season. But that doesn’t mean the team wouldn’t be interested in a potential upgrade. One offseason possibility ESPN proposed Wednesday was San Francisco 49ers cornerback Renardo Green.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Ben Solak predicted Green’s probability of getting traded this offseason at 80%. Both insiders speculated that the 49ers may not hold the former second-round cornerback in very high regard any longer.

Then Graziano and Solak named the Eagles a potential trade fit.

“He is still only 25 and would have value in a trade,” Graziano wrote. “The Niners have a new defensive coordinator in Raheem Morris, and Green might not be a scheme fit.

“The 2024 second-round pick has just one interception in two NFL seasons, and he seemed to fall out of favor a bit with the coaching staff at times last season.”

Green started all 14 games in which he played last season. He posted 60 combined tackles with 10 pass defenses.

Why Renardo Green Could Fit With the Eagles

The biggest question the Eagles face this offseason is what to do at safety. Free safety Reed Blankenship is an unrestricted free agent in March.

But the Eagles will also have a potential hole at cornerback to fill. Veteran Adoree’ Jackson is set to hit free agency.

Granted, Jackson would be significantly cheaper to re-sign than Blankenship. Even still, the likelihood the Eagles bring back Jackson seems a lot lower than the probability the team re-signs Blankenship.

After Jackson departs, the Eagles could then trade for Green to find a new cornerback starter. Such a move would give the Eagles another young, inexpensive starter in the secondary.

“Green isn’t a particularly big outside corner, but he makes up for it with quickness and aggressiveness,” Solak wrote. “Double-digit pass breakups in each of his first two seasons is a testament to that.

“The coaching staff got frustrated with mental lapses and unnecessary aggressiveness last season, and teams will call accordingly to see if Green has run out of time in San Francisco.”

Because of his youth and affordability despite also having experience, Green could potentially cost a late Day 2 or high Day 3 pick. But the fact the 49ers could want to move on from Green might lower the trade price.

As a rookie in 2024, Green posted 61 combined tackles, 13 pass defenses and an interception. He started seven of 17 contests.

Overall, Green has already started 21 games in his NFL career.

In 2026, Green will have about a $1.74 million cap hit. He is under contract for two more years. During 2027, his cap hit will be roughly $2.03 million.
