Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior will be looking to boost their squad when the summer window opens for business
Chelsea-linked Morgan Rogers ‘could’ be sold by Aston Villa this summer, according to GiveMeSport. The report adds that the Blues will be ‘alive’ to the attacker’s situation in the next transfer window along with Liverpool and Manchester United. His contract at Villa Park expires in June 2031.
Liam Rosenior’s side drew 1-1 at home against Burnley last time out. They are back in action this weekend with an away trip to Arsenal. The London outfit are sat in 5th place in the Premier League table after 27 fixtures.
Chelsea could get chance to move for Morgan Rogers this summer
Landing Rogers from Aston Villa would be a big statement of intent by Chelsea. He would add more firepower to their attacking department. At the age of 23, he still has a lot of potential and will only get even better in the future.
Rogers, who has 12 caps for the England national team, joined his current club back in 2024 after catching the eye in the Championship at Middlesbrough. He has since become one of their most prized assets and they could face a battle to keep hold of him down the line amid attention from the Blues, Liverpool and United. The forward has scored 27 goals in 108 games in all competitions to date, 10 of which have come this season.
The ex-West Brom academy man joined Manchester City in 2019. However, he never played for their first-team. Instead, he was loaned out to Lincoln City, AFC Bournemouth and Blackpool to get some experience under his belt.
What now for Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa amid Chelsea attention?
It remains to be seen what will happen with Rogers at Aston Villa when this campaign ends. He would be ideal for Chelsea if they managed to secure his services but they face competition from elsewhere. Journalist Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport: "It'll be really interesting to see whether the new contract has changed the goalposts and Villa hold more of the cards, or whether those suitors a year ago that may return in summer 2026 point back to their £80million plus valuation from last summer and still feel a deal is possible around those kind of terms."
