Jets called 'serious organization' by Ohio State LB likely to go No. 2 overall

The New York Jets are picking second overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, and with the Las Vegas Raiders set to take Fernando Mendoza, the Jets will have plenty of options.

But, there's one clear choice emerging based on recent mock drafts: Ohio State linebacker/edge rusher Arvell Reese. The Buckeyes star is a top target for the Jets at No. 2 overall, and he's already buttering up the Jets at the NFL Combine.

As @snyjets shared on Twitter/x, Reese was asked if he had met with the Jets, and what his takeaway was from meeting with the team. Reese's response was interesting, as he said the Jets were a "serious organization" and the meeting went well.

Ohio State's Arvell Reese says Jets are 'serious organization'

"That meeting was a lot of install, wanting to see where my head was at," Reese said. "I think that's a serious organization. I respect the guys that I met with, I respect the guys in that room."

Reese's claim that the Jets are a serious organization was met with the expected response in the comments under this post from SNY Jets.

After the Jets' issues the last few years, whether it was the poor NFLPA Report Cards, the many instances of Woody Johnson getting too involved with the team and causing friction, most notably with Justin Fields in 2025, and especially with how last year went.

The Jets didn't record a single interception all season, the first time in NFL history any team has done that. And the Jets had 17 games to get just one pick as well.

But, this response from Reese, while fans might view it through an unserious lens, is the proper answer for Reese to make when asked that question.

He's very likely the pick at No. 2 overall, as he's often been mocked to the Jets this offseason. And Reese is one of the best players in the draft as well, as the Buckeyes' linebacker, who had 6.5 sacks and 69 tackles last year, has a lot of potential.

While the Jets might not be viewed as a serious organization by the fans, Reese saying the Jets are such an organization is the right comment to make.

Reese, with a very likely chance to join the Jets organization in the 2026 NFL Draft, won't diminish the team before he makes it there.
