Bears get good news on $14.75 million Giants pass rusher amid ESPN prediction

The Chicago Bears, following their wildly successful 2025 season, look poised to add a lot of talent this offseason. One of the main focuses will be at pass rusher.

They could address this need in the NFL Draft or in free agency, but the more exciting one would be in a trade market. Maxx Crosby is a very fun hypothetical, but with indications pointing towards Crosby staying, the Bears need to pivot.

Fortunately, there's a great pivot in a New York Giants $14.75 million pass rusher. ESPN linked the Bears to this pass rusher, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and gave the Giants star a 70% chance of being traded this offseason, in some good news for the Bears.

Bears get good news on Kayvon Thibodeaux's trade odds

ESPN's "Predicted chance of getting traded" for Thibodeaux comes in at 70%, with the "Potential team fits" including the Los Angeles Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Bears.

Thanks to the Giants' crowded pass rusher room, with Abdul Carter and Brian Burns, there is reason for the Giants to trade away Thibodeaux this offseason. But the Giants might not get a strong return.

ESPN's Ben Solak writes, "But it's a loaded offseason for edge rushers in free agency, which might temper Thibodeaux's market."

There are some solid pass rushers available this offseason, with Trey Hendrickson and Jaelan Phillips two of the biggest pass rushers available this offseason.

There are some other nice depth options as well, and when combined with a strong draft class at pass rusher, the Giants might not get a strong offer for Thibodeaux.

That's good news for the Bears, as they might be able to land Thibodeaux for a very reasonable price this offseason. Instead of a bidding war, the Bears might get a discount.

The 25-year-old pass rusher is under contract for one more season at $14.75 million. He's coming off a 10-start season with only 2.5 sacks, but he has shown potential before, reaching 11.5 sacks in 2023.

Adding Thibodeaux to the Bears' defensive line for the 2026 season would be great, as he would be a nice pairing with Montez Sweat. Ryan Poles needs to address the position, and with Super Bowl aspirations, landing someone like Thibodeaux makes a lot of sense.
