The Boston Celtics are rolling, as they have won nine of their past 10 games in the wake of their 97-81 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. All eyes are on superstar forward Jayson Tatum, though, as he appears to be creeping closer to a return to the action after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the playoffs last year.
Tatum has been seen scrimmaging against his Celtics teammates quite a bit as of late, and while he's been spotted at some of the team's recent practices, nobody will reveal whether or not he's actually participating in those sessions. According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, not only is Tatum participating, but he's been a "full-go" in the team's five-on-five scrimmages.
"I can tell you that Jayson Tatum has been a full-go in five-on-five scrimmages with the Celtics," Charania said on "NBA Today."
Over the past couple of weeks, Tatum has appeared to be taking the final steps towards his return to the court. While he hasn't confirmed whether or not he will play for Boston this year, it would register as a major surprise at this point if he does not return at some point in March or April.
For now, the C's are continuing to roll without Tatum, and they have Jaylen Brown back at their disposal on Wednesday night after he missed the team's win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. Boston will square off against the Denver Nuggets at 10 p.m. ET when it returns to action for the second night of its back-to-back.
