Brian Gutekunst left little doubt about how he feels regarding one of the most consequential moves of his tenure. The Green Bay Packers general manager made it clear he has no regrets about the trade that brought Micah Parsons to the organization.
Speaking during an extended session with reporters at the NFL combine, Gutekunst said he is absolutely glad he made the deal. In additional appearances with local television stations and later at the podium in the media center, he reiterated that there are none when it comes to second thoughts about acquiring the dynamic edge rusher.

Parsons has reshaped Green Bay’s defensive outlook since his arrival, providing speed and disruption off the edge. The trade signaled a bold commitment to elevating the pass rush, a priority that has long defined championship-caliber defenses across the league.
While Gutekunst was firm in defending the move, he acknowledged one area where he may have to deliver difficult news. As Parsons works his way back from a torn left ACL, the general manager indicated he might be the one tasked with telling the star defender he cannot return before the medical staff deems him ready.

Gutekunst shared his thoughts about the franchise trading for Parsons last year. This can be seen in an article written by Rob Demosky for ESPN.
During a lengthy session Tuesday at the NFL combine with writers who cover the Packers, Gutekunst said he is “absolutely” glad he made the trade. During separate sessions with Wisconsin television stations and then later at the podium in the media center, Gutekunst said he had “no regrets” and “none” about the move.
However, Gutekunst did use the word “no” once when it came to Parsons — as in he might have to be the one to tell the edge rusher he can’t return from his torn left ACL whenever he wants.
The comment highlighted the delicate balance between competitiveness and caution. Parsons’ drive to return quickly underscores his intensity, but protecting the long-term health of a cornerstone player remains paramount for the franchise.
As questions continue to surface about the blockbuster trade, Gutekunst’s stance has remained consistent. For him, the acquisition of Parsons was a calculated risk worth taking, and he stands by the decision as Green Bay prepares for the next phase of its defensive evolution.
