Ben Johnson gets brutally honest about relationship with Packers’ Matt LaFleur

The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears will always hate each other because that’s what NFC North Division franchises feel for each other, regardless of the circumstances, especially among the fans.

But that rivalry has gotten more intense of late, particularly after the arrival of Ben Johnson in the Windy City. He even already took shots at Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur during his introductory press conference with the Bears and ramped up the drama with his behavior following Chicago’s wild win against the Packers in the NFL playoffs.

Guess what, the tone remains the same for Johnson.

Bears’ Johnson takes a shot at Green Bay

“Who likes the Packers?” Johnson told Mike Florio of NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk. “The Bears and the Packers, they should not like each other, I think it’s as simple as that. That’s going to make this rivalry, this game, something that people are going to watch going forward.”

“No, we don’t talk,” Johnson said when asked by Florio if he has a relationship with LaFleur. He also said he has no problems with having zero connections with LaFleur.

Johnson and the Bears had more success than Green Bay in 2025, as they won the NFC North title and went deeper in the NFL playoffs. They also defeated the Packers twice overall.

But it is going to be a different season in 2026, with Green Bay having all the motivation it needs to get back at the Bears.

Green Bay went 9-71 in 2025 and finished second in the NFC North.
