Tyreek Hill has not exactly been an uncontroversial player in the NFL since being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2016.

The five-time All-Pro wideout always had a market for his services when healthy and playing at this elite best, which also saw him be nominated to eight consecutive Pro Bowls from 2016 to 2023.

But now, coming off a down season in 2024 and an ACL tear in 2025 that cut his season to just four games, it seems like he is not the in-demand man he once was.

Multiple Teams Not Interested in Signing Tyreek Hill

So much has his value declined, according to Sportsboom’s Jason LaCanfora, that multiple teams are not interested in Hill at all, even at a heavily discounted wage, having been released by the Miami Dolphins last week.

“Hill, the game’s elite downfield playmaker during his time in Kansas City and through his first two years in Miami, has been on a steady decline, with serious questions in scouting circles about his burst and explosiveness, durability, consistency and, to some, willingness to compete at this stage of his career.” LaCanfora wrote on Tuesday.

“Executives for several receiver-deficient teams said signing Hill, even at a massively-reduced salary, is effectively a non-starter for them.”

La Canfora subsequently quotes multiple league executives, some of whom note that even at a veteran’s minimum contract they would not be enticed to sign the former Chief.

“We aren’t touching him,” a general manager noted. “No chance. We think he’s done. He isn’t a difference-maker anymore. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Not even as a vet-minimum guy for us.”

La Canfora reports that GMs and other personnel execs consider Hill to be too much of a liability in the locker room and too departed from his former capabilities to be worth the risk of signing him.

“Several trusted sources were adamant that Hill is too much of an issue in the locker room and too limited physically at this stage of his career to be counted on to perform.”

Tyreek Hill Expected to Earn Far Less than His Previous Deals

Whilst some team will likely end up rolling the dice on Hill – particularly since he was on pace for an 1,100 yard receiving season prior to his injury in September – La Canfora argues that said team, which could well end up being the Chiefs, will likely be offering Hill a vastly lower salary than he had been previously making.

“Many have speculated about a possible reunion with the Chiefs, given their significant needs on offense, and perhaps that will end up making the most sense, but at a salary that is a drastic departure from what he’s been accustomed to earning.”

Hill was never going to get anything like his $30 million per year extension signed with the Dolphins back in 2024, but with some teams reportedly talking him not being worth the veteran’s minimum, the Super Bowl champion could well have to seriously calibrate his salary expectations if he hopes to play in 2026.
