Arsenal Legend Makes“Prime Thierry Henry”Comparison As He Lavishes Praise On Player’s Spurs Display

**Arsenal icon Ray Parlour says Viktor Gyokeres “looked like a different player” in the North London derby last weekend.**

The Swedish international scored a brace in the 4-1 win against Spurs, and Parlour was particularly impressed with how the striker took his second goal, which reminded him of Thierry Henry:

“If he can do what he did against Tottenham week in, week out, then that would be fantastic. He looked like a different player against Tottenham. He looks a lot more confident.”

“Not just his goals he scored, but the all-round play was much better. He was getting into the right positions. The last goal was like prime Thierry Henry back in the day.”

“Henry used to do that on a regular basis. So, if he can carry on that form, that would be the missing link, because that’s probably where Arsenal are weakest. If you look at the team in general, it’s the strike force.”

Gyokeres is in excellent form

-----------------------------

Since the start of 2026, the 27-year-old has found the back of the net 9 times in 14 appearances,  which means he is averaging a goal every 1.56 matches this calendar year.

That makes [**Gyokeres**](https://goonernews.com/blog/arsenal-news-viktor-gyokeres-aguero/) a lot more prolific than even Erling Haaland over that period. The Manchester City striker has only scored 4 times in the same number of games.

Can the Arsenal forward keep this up?

-------------------------------------

It remains to be seen whether this is simply a purple patch or if this is what we should expect from Gyokeres in a Gunners shirt from here on out.

As Parlour points out, if the Swede can maintain this level of performance for the rest of the season, it could be the difference in terms of finishing 2nd in the table and winning the Premier League title.
