Arsenal legend Ian Wright has predicted the Gunners to get the better of Chelsea in the upcoming London derby. The two teams are set to face off at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Ahead of the crunch tie, the Gunners hold a five-point lead at the top of the table, while Chelsea sit fifth and are in the race for the Champions League spots for next season. Sunday’s meeting will mark the fourth encounter between the two teams this season and the second in the Premier League. The reverse league fixture, played at Stamford Bridge in November, ended in a 1-1 draw.

However, the league leaders went on to claim the London bragging rights in each of the two subsequent clashes, defeating the Blues across two legs in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. In what promises to be an intriguing contest, Wright predicted a comfortable win for his former side.

“I’m going to go 3-1,” Wright said on The Overlap. “We’re going to murder them.”

The last time Chelsea defeated the Gunners was in 2021 – a 2-0 win at the Emirates. They have also scored just once in their last five appearances vs Arsenal at the Emirates.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink makes prediction for Arsenal vs Chelsea clash

While Wright backed the Gunners to take all three points, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink predicted his former side to dent the title hopes of Mikel Arteta’s side. For Hasselbaink, Chelsea are a ‘strange kind of team’ and he doesn’t see them losing on Sunday.

“The next game for Arsenal against Chelsea is the one, I don’t see them winning against Chelsea,” he told Sky Sports. “Chelsea are a strange kind of team, they will go out to a big team and get a result, get a draw or get a win. They can do that. That’s just how they are. We have seen it. I think that game for Arsenal will be so much harder than the Spurs game. Then maybe they [Arsenal and City] are both on the same points. Then we see who is up for it.”

While Hasselbaink prognosticated a slip-up for the Gunners this weekend, he backed them to win the title.

“I do think they are the favourites and I do think they are going to win it, they have the strongest squad,” he added. “But I always saw them winning at Spurs. even with the pressure. I never thought Spurs would even get a draw, especially after the Wolves game because when Arsenal have a point to prove, the majority of the time they deliver.”

Since Liam Rosenior took charge at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have yet to lose a league match, winning four and drawing two.
