Ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could QUIT Red Bull and make sensational return

Jurgen Klopp has been working with Red Bull since leaving Liverpool but the relationship is not secure long-term and a parting of ways could see the German return to management

Jurgen Klopp's future with Red Bull is far from certain with the sporting performance of their clubs still not where they want it - which has opened the door for them to part ways with the German.

The former Liverpool boss walked away from the dugout in 2024 and quickly took up a role with Red Bull Soccer. His remit included overseeing their portfolio of clubs, aiding their achievements on the pitch as well as their recruitment.

But Klopp's presence has not had the desired effect and Salzburger Nachrichten reports that Red Bull wouldn't stand in the 58-year-old's way if he wanted to walk away. RB Leipzig, the most high profile of Red Bull's clubs, is still not reaching the heights it once did.

They sit fifth in the Bundesliga, attempting to qualify for the Champions League, but more progress was expected. Klopp is not squarely to blame, but Red Bull are open to them going their separate ways, which opens the door for the ex-Reds boss to take another job.

Whilst he admitted he was happy to call it a day in management, rumours have mounted that Real Madrid could come calling in the summer. They're likely to replace Alvaro Arbeloa and Florentino Perez is known to be fan.

The World Cup this summer could also see doors, notably with the German national team, open. Julian Nagelsmann is currently in charge and set to lead his country into a second major tournament.

Klopp did pour water on a return when he told reporters earlier this year: "I don't expect to change my mind, but I don't know. We're building a house right now and my missus wanted to have a really big trophy room.

"There was another small room and I said, 'This is enough, because we know how many trophies we have, we will not add any.' It might sound arrogant, but I know I can coach a football team. But I don't need to do it until my last day."

Red Bull are already considering what life without Klopp would look like and are eyeing up Oliver Glasner to take on his role. The Crystal Palace boss will leave Selhurst Park this summer and his stock in Germany, where he won the Europa League at Frankfurt, is extremely high.

Glasner has previously worked as a sporting coordinator and assistant coach at RB Salzburg and the Austrian could fill any void that may come up. RB Salzburg currently sit top in Austria as they continue to dominate, but their Leipzig outfit has been inconsistent following the sales of some of their major names, Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons among them.
