Maxx Crosby’s future with Raiders gets significant update amid trade buzz

The Las Vegas Raiders are heading into another rebuild in 2026, and Maxx Crosby’s future with the franchise remains unclear. The star edge rusher has not come out and asked for a trade or blasted the front office publicly.

But league-wide speculation picked up steam after the Raiders decided to shut him down toward the end of last season. That move apparently rubbed Crosby the wrong way and left some questions hanging.

Raiders general manager John Spytek spoke about Crosby’s status for the first time at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Spytek said he is counting on Crosby being back next season. He pointed to Crosby’s elite level of play and made it clear that putting together a winning team means having guys who can change games.

However, NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reported the Raiders would think about a Maxx Crosby trade, but only if the price is right.

“Will the Raiders trade defensive end Maxx Crosby? Yes, if they get what they want for him,” Florio wrote. “Per a league source, the Raiders are looking for two first-round picks and a player for the 28-year-old edge rusher.”

That type of return is similar to what the Dallas Cowboys pulled in for Micah Parsons last August. That deal included defensive lineman Kenny Clark going the other way.

Crosby entered the NFL as a fourth-round selection in 2019 but has performed way above that draft position ever since. He’s developed into one of the toughest edge rushers to block in the entire league.

Last year got complicated because of a knee problem that eventually required surgery. Despite that, Crosby stayed on the field for most of the season. He appeared in 15 games in 2025 and posted 73 tackles with 10 sacks.

He also recorded 28 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, one interception, and two forced fumbles. His production stayed strong even while dealing with the injury.
