Twist: Club change stance on£100m Liverpool transfer target who is a"joy to watch"- report

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, but a new transfer claim may potentially have changed things.

The 23-year-old has been among the standout players in the Premier League this season, catching the eye with his end product and match-winning ability for Villa.

In fact, Rogers is arguably even in pole position to start in the No.10 role for England at the 2026 World Cup ahead of the likes of Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden and Eberechi Eze.

Liverpool have been mentioned as an option for the Villa ace in the summer transfer window, previously valuing him at around £80m.

Now, Give Me Sport report that the Midlands will be pushing for £100m at the end of the season, in a new twist regarding his future and price tag.

They state that Liverpool and Chelsea “will both be alive” to Rogers’ situation in the summer, with Manchester United “credited with an interest” in him, too.

Morgan Rogers a fantastic summer option for Liverpool

Rogers could be a brilliant signing for Liverpool, not only possessing huge substance in his game, but also a maverick style of play that could appeal to the Anfield faithful.

He has 13 goal contributions in 27 Premier League appearances this season – eight goals and five assists – and former Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has said of him:

“He was a joy to watch. We talked about him before the game, what he offers to the Villa team, what he brings to the Villa team. He was just outstanding, we saw everything from the young man. He looked like a mature player. He looked like he is going to be a star. He could have scored another two.”

Granted, Florian Wirtz is making the No.10 position his own at Liverpool, but improved squad depth is needed this summer, and Rogers’ versatility could also allow him to flourish in a deeper midfield role and on the left wing.

His price tag is the one negative, with English players so often costing more, but if the funds are available from FSG, he should be seen as a wonderful target for the Reds – one who is still only 23 years of age.
