Red Bull’s football chief Oliver Mintzlaff has moved quickly to address reports that Jurgen Klopp could leave his role with the conglomerate prematurely.
Recent reports from Austria’s Salzburger Nachrichten claimed the former Liverpool boss was no longer beyond question inside the Red Bull empire, with a summer separation possible after disappointing sporting progress and growing interest from clubs like Real Madrid.
The same stories even suggested Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner, who is leaving the Premier League side at the end of the season, had been identified as a leading candidate to replace Klopp.
However, it seems that those inside the organisation to do not agree with the claims. Speaking to media outlets including Sky Germany, Red Bull’s football chief Oliver Mintzlaff has branded the reports as “complete nonsense”:
“That is complete nonsense and entirely made up,” he asserted
“On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with the work Jürgen Klopp is doing. He invests a great deal of time and effort, is in constant communication with our coaches and sporting directors, and continues to develop our Red Bull football philosophy in a sustainable way.”
“We are convinced that he is the right man for this job. That is where we are putting all our focus and energy.”
For now, that public backing appears to slam the door on talk of an imminent reshuffle at the top of Red Bull’s football operation, even if outside links to Real Madrid or a future return to management are unlikely to disappear entirely.
But with Mintzlaff’s emphatic defence on record, the message from Red Bull is clear: Klopp remains their man, and any talk of an early exit is, in their view, little more than rumour.
