Newcastle United are likely to submit a bid for an "explosive" former Barcelona forward, who has now been identified as their top summer transfer target.

Anthony Gordon has been in much-improved form over the past few weeks, with the English winger particularly impressing in the Champions League, netting four times in the 6-1 victory against Qarabag in the first leg of the Champions League play-off round.
The 25-year-old has ten goals to his name in ten Champions League appearances this season, which has led to interest from a number of Premier League clubs, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool being named among the potential suitors.
The Magpies are reluctant to cash-in on their in-form winger at the end of the season, but a move to the Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford could be hard to turn down, with the Gunners and the Red Devils on course to qualify for the Champions League.
Gordon is well-known to be a boyhood Liverpool fan, which means a move to Anfield could also appeal, and amid the speculation surrounding his future, Eddie Howe's side have now set their sights on a new winger.
That is according to a report from Sports Boom, which states Newcastle have identified Real Betis star Abde Ezzalzouli as their top target for the summer window, and they are likely to make a bid, which is expected to amount to around €30m - €35m (£26m - £31m).

However, Betis are expected to hold out for as much as €40m (£35m), amid widespread interest in the former Barcelona ,an, with West Ham United, Aston Villa and Everton also being credited with an interest.

Of course, given Gordon's recent form, the hope will be that Howe can retain the former Everton man beyond the summer, but the Betis forward could be an exciting addition to the squad regardless, having received high praise from scout Ben Mattinson.
The 24-year-old has been in impressive form in La Liga this season, providing five goals and five assists in 16 La Liga outings, while also netting three goals in eight Europa League outings.
Ezzalzouli is at a good age to be a long-term success at St. James' Park, and Newcastle should definitely pursue a move this summer, considering the £35m asking price seems pretty fair.
