The New York Jets may have just telegraphed what they're going to do with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft after striking a trade with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.
According to several reports, the Jets and Tennessee Titans have agreed to a trade that will send EDGE Jermaine Johnson to the Titans in exchange for defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat.
The trade is pending physicals and cannot be made official until the start of the new league year on March 11.
This trade now leaves the Jets extremely thin at edge rusher. With Johnson gone, the only notable edge rusher under contract is Will McDonald.
Luckily for the Jets, this year's draft class is deep at edge rusher, so we would expect New York to address the position there.
To take it a step further, we believe this trade locks the Jets into taking an edge rusher at No. 2 overall. New York's options in that spot will be very intriguing.
You have a Micah Parsons-type linebacker in Arvell Reese, who some consider the best prospect overall in this year's class. Reese is billed as an inside linebacker, but many believe kicking to the outside is the best bet for his NFL career.
Another potential option for New York is David Bailey, who is more of a pure edge rusher than Reese.
After seeing this trade go down, it would be borderline shocking if the Jets come away with anyone other than those two players come April 24.
