Latest Bears rumor reveals 13.5 sack DT is drawing trade interest

The Chicago Bears are entering the 2026 offseason with some major needs and big question marks to address.

While the safety room and pass rusher group are areas of interest, fans should also keep a close eye on the trade rumors surrounding the Bears. DJ Moore and Tyson Bagent have popped up in rumors, but a new face has also emerged as a trade target.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, 2023 second-round defensive tackle Gervon Dexter is reportedly receiving trade interest from around the league.

Bears receive trade interest in Gervon Dexter

"Sources: Teams have inquired with the Bears about trading for DT Gervon Dexter, as the free-agent DT market and draft class are not deep," Schultz reports.

Dexter was the 53rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He's played three seasons with the Bears, and now is heading into the final year of his rookie deal.

Instead of letting Dexter play out the final year of his deal, the Bears could trade him away for something decent in return. He won't be worth more than a Day 3 pick, but that could still be a valuable return.

The 24-year-old defensive tackle has started 33 games for the Bears since 2023, and he's recorded 13.5 sacks, including six this past season in his best year in the NFL.

Dexter has 115 career tackles, with 10 tackles for loss and 42 quarterback hits, over the last three seasons. While he might not be a Pro Bowl lineman, he's still a young, ascending defensive tackle who can be a great presence in the interior for a team.

The Bears are fielding trade calls on Dexter, but even so, they might not trade him. But this interest gives Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson the option to trade their young DT for a solid return if they have other plans this offseason.
