Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders appears to be doing his best to cozy up to his new head coach, Todd Monken.
Monken recently had a birthday and Sanders bought him an odd gift.
That gift was a porcelain horse head, Monken revealed.
"I've talked to [Sanders] three times, I think, he's come in to see me," Monken said to CBS Sports. "In fact, for my birthday, I got this package. Like, all of a sudden, Feb. 5, this package comes. I thought it was from my wife. ... Open it up, it's this porcelain horse head. And it's from Shedeur. He sent me a gift on my birthday."
"And I asked him, 'What was the meaning?' And he said, 'Well, I just really liked it. I got myself one.' I said, 'Well, great. Awesome,'" Monken added.
Anyone who is a fan of "The Godfather" movie will immediately think of the scene where Jack Woltz wakes up to the head of a horse in his bed, which was a message and threat from the Corleone family.
Of course, that is not Sanders' motivation here, especially considering he bought one for himself.
Instead, this is likely Sanders' way of building on his relationship with his new head coach, who will play a key role in deciding whether or not Sanders will start in 2026.
Monken has expressed excitement for Shedeur, but he also had similar sentiments for Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel.
"I'm excited about Shedeur, excited about Deshaun and Dillon," Monken said. "I'm excited about the prospects, not only in free agency but also in the draft and we'll see where it all falls. Ultimately you've got to do whatever you need to do, especially at that position, to put yourself in position to score points."
Nothing is set in stone in Cleveland, but it sure doesn't hurt for Sanders to butter up his head coach ahead of what is a crucial offseason for his young career.
