Chelsea's chances of signing Morgan Rogers compared to Manchester United - report

Chelsea are long-term admirers of Aston Villa and England star Morgan Rogers, however will face serious competition from the likes of Manchester United for his signature this summer.

The Blues were very keen on Rogers last summer, although elected to look in another direction when it came to signing new wingers.

The deals to bring in Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have not worked out so far, and this was likely behind the club’s January interest in Antoine Semenyo.

Why has Alejandro Garnacho been such an unpopular signing? 🤯

That ship has sailed though, although despite Rogers‘ new contract he remains a possibility if Villa are forced to sell at the end of the season.

Chelsea pushing hardest to sign Morgan Rogers

Chelsea are rivalling United, as well as Liverpool and Arsenal for a potential deal, however TeamTALK have stated that it is the Blues who are pushing hardest to complete the deal.

The report goes on to say that even though Villa really don’t want to sell, they are putting his price tag above the £100m which Jack Grealish’s move to City brought in for the club.

The 2025/26 campaign has been highly successful for the England international. He has already levelled his Premier League goal tally from last season, and is a shoo-in to go to the 2026 World Cup.

Ollie Watkins has tipped Rogers to join Real Madrid in the future, however the Blues can provide an intriguing path to the starting side straight away.

How Rogers would fit in at Chelsea

While there would be some serious competition from best mate Cole Palmer for a place in the number 10 role, bringing in Rogers could immediately elevate their quality on the left of attack.

Reports have already stated that Garnacho’s place at the club is not safe, despite only joining at the start of the season.

The Blues need to move away from the concept of signing players for cut-price deals, and instead make a signing that will instantly raise their standards.

A front four of Rogers, Palmer, Estevao Willian and Joao Pedro would instantly be amongst the best in the Premier League, and should be Chelsea’s priority signing this summer.
