Liverpool striker sustains knee injury

Liverpool’s growing injury list has been an unwelcome sub‑plot to their push at the top end of the Premier League table. Arne Slot is already without long‑term absentees Conor Bradley and Alexander Isak, while Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz are both nursing minor issues ahead of this weekend’s clash with West Ham.

The expectation is that Slot will offer a clearer update on that group, and any fresh concerns from the win over Nottingham Forest, in his pre‑match press conference on Friday.

Supporters will tune in hoping to hear positive news on the men’s side – but elsewhere at the club there has already been a disappointing update.

Liverpool FC have confirmed that women’s forward Mia Enderby has sustained a knee injury, forcing her to withdraw from the latest England Under‑23s squad. The 19‑year‑old is now undergoing treatment and further assessment, with the club yet to put a firm timescale on her return.

A club statement read:

“Mia Enderby has withdrawn from the England U23s squad due to injury.”

“The Liverpool FC Women forward was stretchered off immediately after scoring the opening goal in her side’s 2-1 win over Everton in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last weekend.”

“Scans have since confirmed that Enderby sustained a minor knee injury when colliding with Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan.”

“She will therefore not play for England U23s during the March international break, instead remaining with her club to continue her rehabilitation at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.”

It is a blow given how influential Enderby has been for Liverpool Women over the past couple of seasons.

After arriving from Sheffield United, she quickly became a key attacking outlet, finishing her debut campaign for the Reds with nine goals in all competitions and later winning the club’s Goal of the Season award for a stunning solo strike against Manchester City.

This term she has continued to impress in the Women’s Super League, registering two goals and an assist in 14 league appearances and regularly providing energy and direct running from the flank.
