Chelsea and Manchester City will be attendance for Genk’s clash with Dinamo Zagreb this evening.
That’s according to Sporza, who cover the extensive scouting list today. The Belgian outlet reports that ‘dozens of scouts’ from all over Europe are heading to the game.
According to their information, no fewer than 23 scouts will be present at the Cegeka Arena tonight for Genk’s clash with Zagreb in the Europa League.
The English list, which is extensive, includes Chelsea and Manchester City among others. Who the duo are there to see, is up for debate.
Chelsea and Manchester City scouting trip
The obvious name would be Kos Karetsas, who reports have linked the duo with in recent weeks. Indeed, a report last week insisted Chelsea and Manchester City were both already calling him.
Unfortunately, he is currently out injured and won’t feature in the game. There are other names currently shining at Genk, though.
Zakaria El Ouahdi, Yaimar Medina, and Matte Smets are the names Sporza offer up. They have ‘been considered’ by foreign clubs in recent weeks according to Sporza.
In fact, Sport Witness covered a report at the end of January insisting that Chelsea sent a scout to watch Medina in action.
The 21-year-old is reportedly on the Blues radar as they continue to scoop up talent from around the world.
Manchester City policy
Manchester City have a similar policy, and it would hardly be surprising if they were also just at the game to see what talent is available.
That would certainly make sense, given Genk’s history as one of Europe’s most prolific ‘finishing schools’ for top-tier football talent. The Belgian side are experts at developing and selling players at a top price.
The current crop has attracted attention for some time, and Chelsea and Manchester City’s interest makes sense.
