John Terry was one of those who was vocal about how poor Chelsea were in the final few weeks of Enzo Maresca’s reign at the club, and the decision makers at the club agreed with the club legend.
Maresca lost a lot of faith from the club directors in the final few weeks of his time at the club before his departure on New Year’s Day.
The Italian began to make comments in the media that hinted at major unrest behind the scenes, and poor results towards the end of 2025 helped lead to his departure.

If John Terry is better than Virgil van Dijk, why? And don't just say trophies! 😅

Chelsea agreed with John Terry’s scathing verdict of Enzo Maresca
One of those games was a 3-1 defeat at Elland Road to Leeds, where Chelsea looked shellshocked and didn’t really push to get back into the game.
Terry made comments after the game that suggested he disagreed with those tactics, and according to The Telegraph these thoughts were echoed by those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.

The end of Maresca’s rein came after a run of just one league win in seven games, where there was plenty of criticism over the way he approached them.
As reports emerged of the Italian holding talks with Manchester City and Juventus, the Blues decided to part ways and move forwards with Liam Rosenior at the helm for the rest of the campaign at least.
Terry’s thoughts on Rosenior so far
The new manager at Stamford Bridge has got off to a strong start, only tasting defeat so far at the hands of Arsenal in the EFL Cup.
Despite this, he has not won over everyone yet, including arguably the club’s greatest ever captain.
Terry has asked for more from Rosenior in the early stages of him being in charge, believing that not a great deal has changed since the previous manager’s tenure.
The Englishman is immediately finding out the pressures that come with taking the job in West London, with the Blues in the middle of a dogfight for a top five finish.
