Browns 'perfect' free agent target is Packers OT who has made 48 starts

The Cleveland Browns have a big need along the offensive side of the ball this offseason. Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dillon Gabriel are fighting for the starting QB job, but an outside addition is still possible.

At wide receiver, Jerry Jeudy isn't enough, and the Browns desperately need a top-flight receiver this offseason. But, just as important for the Browns is the offensive line. With all of their starters hitting the open market, they have some big decisions to make.

With such a clear need along the offensive line, Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine named a Green Bay Packers offensive tackle as the Browns' "perfect" free agent target this offseason.

Browns linked to 48-start Packers OT as 'perfect' free agent target

"Finding a long-term left tackle would be a huge checklist item to mark off," Ballentine writes. "... They could use that future flexibility to grab Walker. The Packers tackle was 11th in pass block win rate among tackles this season."

The Browns have a very clear need along the offensive line. With holes at essentially every spot, adding a new left tackle, anchoring the blindside, would be huge for the offense.

While Walker would be very expensive, as top offensive tackles normally sit around $20 million or so per-year. For the 26-year-old offensive tackle out of Penn State, such a contract would be worth it.

The Browns will have plenty of cap space to work with when they restructure Watson's and Denzel Ward's contracts. With that space, the Browns can land Walker, one of the best tackles available in free agency.

Walker was the 249th pick by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft. he didn't make a single start his rookie year, but he started 15 games in 2023, then 17 starts in 2024, and this past season, he made 16 starts.

Walker is a good pass protector, and for the Browns and their struggling offensive line, he would be a "perfect" addition to protect whoever the starting quarterback is next season and for years to come.
