George Kittle replacement named dream draft target for San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers need to figure out a succession plan for the tight end position. That was true even before veteran George Kittle tore his Achilles during San Francisco's Wild Card win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, with Kittle's status for the start of next season in jeopardy, the Niners absolutely need to address the position over the offseason. They could do so early in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq named dream draft target for 49ers

Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq was recently named the dream draft target for the 49ers by Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report.

As a Junior for Oregon in 2025, Sadiq caught 51 passes for 560 yards and was named First-Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Tight End of the Year.

"For years, tight end George Kittle has been a key part of the San Francisco 49ers offense. But Kittle is also a 32-year-old player who tore his Achilles in the playoffs. His availability for the early portion of the 2026 season is very much in doubt, and in any event the Niners need to look to the future at the position," Davenport wrote.

"Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq could be that future. ... The 49ers don't just need a long-term answer at tight end. The team needs passing-game weapons—period. Sadiq solves both problems."
