San Francisco 49ers QBs Brock Purdy and Mac Jones
Part of the reason why the San Francisco 49ers entrusted veteran quarterback Mac Jones to take over for injured starter Brock Purdy this past season was because of his arm. The former Pro-Bowler reportedly showed off that arm during a massive snowball fight in Manhattan this week as he was launching snowballs left and right.
After an impressive campaign that saw him step in for Purdy and lead the 49ers to five of their 12 wins in the regular season, the former national champion deserves to have a little bit of offseason fun while on vacation.

Mac Jones Stepped Up for the San Francisco 49ers When They Needed Him
With Purdy out for a portion of the season due to nagging foot and shoulder injuries, Jones was called upon to hand the reins of the San Francisco offense. For a player who was playing on his third team in the last three seasons, he more than held his own as he threw 13 touchdown passes and six interceptions.

His completion rate of 69.6% was the second-best mark in the NFL among all quarterbacks, and the former first-round pick was also top-10 in QBR (62.3). Furthermore, in four of his eight starts, he posted a passer rating above 100.0.
Without the strong play from Jones, the 49ers likely wouldn’t have gotten to 12 regular-season wins, which would mean that they could have missed the playoffs altogether. He gave them a chance when they had no other quarterback to turn to.
Can the 49ers Stay Healthy in 2026?
On paper and with what they’ve shown in recent years under head coach Kyle Shanahan, the Niners have a very solid team on paper, one that should be in contention for the NFC West and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
However, the one thing that continues to stand in the way year after year for this franchise is health. Whether it is on offense or defense, major injuries seem to take place at the worst possible time for Shanahan and Co. Last season, the team lost arguably its four best players in Purdy, All-Pro tight end George Kittle, All-Pro edge-rusher Nick Bosa, and All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner to major injuries.

While Purdy returned to play during last season, Kittle, Bosa, and Warner all suffered season-ending injuries at one point or another. That is a key reason why San Francisco wasn’t able to put up much of a fight against the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round, as they lost 41-6.
As good as Jones played in place of Purdy, this team is better when Purdy is healthy and at the helm. Furthermore, when he has a healthy George Kittle, as well as a healthy starting running back in Christian McCaffrey, this team can compete for a Super Bowl.
This team winning 12 games despite injuries on both sides of the football was nothing short of extremely impressive. Now, to go that extra mile and bring home that first Super Bowl title this century, health must be on their side. That is the only thing standing in their way.
