Sigatoka’s Kulukulu Public School (KPS) had its NFL (National Football League) flag outreach programme yesterday with 227 students participating.
Speaking to SUNsports, KPS head teacher Manoj Ram said they appreciated the opportunity to learn about the sport of American Football.
“I think we are very lucky that out of so many schools, we were chosen to be with these people who have come from USA to introduce this sport in Sigatoka,” Ram said

He said students at KPS have natural sporting talents.
“I think their talents and skills are inborn in them and maybe it’s a blessing from God and a few of them might become international players in this sport.”
Ram highlighted that the sport is similar to tag rugby and it would be easier for children to grasp it.
“It is something more than tag rugby. So, I think the children will learn it fast and they will catch it fast,” he said.
Ram acknowledged the US Embassy staff, NFL executives and the media for attending the event.
“I’m very proud and fortunate to have everybody here today, because this message will not only stay in our school, but it will be passed around the country,” Ram added.
