“Huh?”: Washington Commanders Fans Puzzled by Pro Bowlers Release

Washington Commanders center Tyler Biadasz had a solid second year with the team, holding steady in pass protection and improving at run blocking. He allowed 21 pressures, 18 hurries, and three sacks across 16 games. Biadasz posted a 67.1 pass-blocking grade, a 71.2 run-blocking grade, and a 70.7 PFF grade, ranking 14th, 11th, and 9th, among 32 qualified centers, respectively.

The 28-year-old enters the final year of his deal. He is scheduled to earn a $6.8 million base salary, a $1 million roster bonus due March 30, a per-game bonus totaling $250,000, a $250,000 workout bonus, $8.3 million in cash, and a $10.98 million cap charge, the fifth-highest cap hit by a center in 2026.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Commanders have suddenly released Tyler Biadasz, though he did not specify whether it was a pre- or post-June 1st cut. A pre-June 1st cut frees $2.88 million in cap space while taking on $8.1 million in dead cap. On the other hand, a post-June 1 designation clears $8.28 million on June 2nd while incurring $2.7 million dead cap in 2026 and $5.4 million in 2027.

With the release of Biadasz, the Commander will undoubtedly be in the market for a center either in free agency or the draft. The good news is that the free-agent market is loaded with talent, including Tyler Linderbaum, Cade Mays, Connor McGovern, Ethan Pocic, Lloyd Cushenberry III, and Luke Fortner, to name a few. More good news, is that the team has over $75 million in cap space.

Despite this, fans are puzzled by the news.
