BENNY SNELL MAKING FOOTBALL COMEBACK
The Steelers spent a fourth-round pick on running back Benny Snell Jr. in 2019. He appeared in 63 games with the team over four seasons, rushing for a total of 982 yards and seven touchdowns. While he started five games, he never panned out as an NFL running back. The Steelers let him walk in free agency in 2023. Although he signed with the Detroit Lions, he never appeared in a game with them.
That was the last time Snell was on an NFL roster. While it looked like his career was over, he’s trying to make a comeback to football. UFL insider Avion Plummer shared on Twitter that Snell has joined the Louisville Kings. It’s not the NFL, but Snell returns to football for the first time in three years. We’ll see how his comeback attempt goes.

PITTSBURGH NATIVES PROMOTE DOC
The Football Town is an NFL Films documentary focused on Pittsburgh and its connection to football. It’s set to premiere in a few days, and it features several Steelers. However, several other good NFL players have come out of Pittsburgh.
Leo McCafferty, founder and president of Lion’s Tale Media, shared a photo on Twitter of himself with some Pittsburgh-native NFL players promoting the documentary. That includes Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Curtis Martin and former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch. Daniel Martin Rooney, son of Art Rooney II, was also present. It goes to show how widespread Pittsburgh’s reach is.
CALEB DOWNS ON POLAMALU
The NFL Scouting Combine is here, and it’s giving fans a chance to get to know many prospects. That includes Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, one of the top players in this year’s class. Downs is expected to be a high first-round pick. He has also been compared to Steelers legend Troy Polamalu.
Appearing on CBS Sports’ YouTube channel, Downs was asked about being compared to Polamalu, and he was humble in the face of that praise. Downs simply stated that it’s an honor and that Polamalu is one of the best safeties ever. It feels unlikely that Downs will slip to the Steelers’ pick in the first round, but perhaps they’ll trade up for him just like they did for Polamalu.
