Report: Chelsea's stance on signing another striker with Emanuel Emegha joining

Chelsea’s signing of Emanuel Emegha hasn’t completely shut the door on attacking additions for the summer, as the Blues have a plan up their sleeve.

Emanuel Emegha is currently plying his trade at Chelsea‘s sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

His 2025–26 season has been highly productive yet injury-plagued. The striker has netted seven goals in 11 appearances across all competitions, including four in Ligue 1 and three in Europe. However, a recurrent muscle fiber tear has sidelined Emegha through much of early 2026.

Liam Rosenior has high hopes for Emegha, so he won’t be too worried about his issues this season. After all, Delap has had some problems of his own to contend with, so it’s nothing new.

Why has Alejandro Garnacho been such an unpopular signing? 🤯

Chelsea seriously considering a striker signing

According to TeamTalk, Chelsea are giving serious consideration to a striker signing despite Emanuel Emegha joining in the summer.

It comes down to the speculation involving Marc Guiu at Chelsea.

There have been conflicting reports, with the Spanish media claiming that Guiu has submitted a transfer request and wants to leave.

However, Simon Johnson states that the striker still loves being at the club and is focused on doing whatever he can to help the team this season.

If John Terry is better than Virgil van Dijk, why? And don't just say trophies! 😅

What kind of striker is Emanuel Emegha?

Emanuel Emegha has a rare talent. Despite standing at 6ft 5in, he possesses the explosive speed of a track star. Clocking a top speed of 37.72 km/h, fast enough to outrun most Premier League wingers, he defies the traditional target man mold.

While his height makes him a natural aerial threat, his true danger lies in his off-the-ball movement and his ability to breach high defensive lines.

His profile provides the physical presence Chelsea currently lacks, potentially ending the false 9 era by offering a mobile, towering focal point who can bully defenders and finish from both feet. Something that Liam Delap has struggled to do since joining in the summer.
