Paul Merson has named Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah as the best winger ever but insisted that Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka is the best in the position at the moment.
Salah and Saka have established themselves as two of the best wingers the Premier League has produced. Both players have been instrumental for their respective clubs over the years.
During a short Q&A on The Overlap’s TikTok page, Merson was tasked with picking the best now and the best ever in each position. When it came to the winger Slot, the former Arsenal midfielder and Sky Sports pundit opted for Saka as the number one in the position currently.

“Probably [Bukayo] Saka for robust and everything, yeah!” he said.
As for the best winger ever, he added:
“I’m going to be a bit lazy here because I can’t go far, and I can’t think how far back, but I’ll go Salah because the numbers he’s put up are ridiculous.”
While Salah has endured a dip in form this season, the Egyptian has displayed consistency in the Premier League in terms of goalscoring over the last seven seasons. Last season, he helped Liverpool win their 20th league title, registering 47 goal contributions in total.
In the process, he matched the all-time record for Premier League goal involvements in a single campaign, which was previously held by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer. Salah also sits fourth in the Premier League all-time top scorers list.
While Saka’s goal tally pales in comparison, the Arsenal man has been a linchpin at the Emirates, renowned for his dribbling and creative ability.
