Liverpool to play Galatasaray in Champions League last 16

Liverpool will play Galatasaray in the last 16 of the Champions League, with the second leg of the March ties to take place at Anfield.

The Reds were drawn against Okan Buruk’s Galatasaray in the Champions League last 16 after finishing third in the league phase and advancing straight to the knockouts.

When are Liverpool’s Champions League last 16 fixtures?

UEFA are yet to confirm when the two legs will take place but Liverpool are expected to play on Tuesday, March 10 (away) and Wednesday, March 18 (home) due to scheduling conflicts.

Liverpool have already played Galatasaray once this season, with a 1-0 loss at RAMS Park in the league phase serving as preparation for these ties.

Galatasaray are currently top of the Turkish Super Lig and earned their place in the last 16 via a 7-5 aggregate victory over Juventus in the playoffs, despite losing 3-2 away in the second leg.

Atletico Madrid were also in the same bracket and will instead play Tottenham in the last 16.

Who could Liverpool play in the Champions League quarter-finals?

Liverpool also know they would play one of Paris Saint-Germain or Chelsea in the quarter-finals while the semi-finals will include one of Real Madrid, Man City, Atalanta or Bayern Munich.

The 2026 Champions League final will take place in Budapest, Hungary on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Dates for this season’s Champions League, including those for the last 16, are as follows:

Last 16: March 10/11 and 17/18

Quarter-final: April 7/8 and 14/15

Semi-final: April 28/29 and May 5/6

Final: May 30 (Budapest)
