City to face Real Madrid in Champions League last sixteenSides meet in knock-out stage for sixth time in seven seasons
City will once again face Real Madrid in the knockout stages of this season's Champions League, following the draw in Nyon on Friday morning.
The two sides met in the league phase in December, with the Blues winning 2-1 at the Bernabeu thanks to goals from Nico O'Reilly and Erling Haaland.
It will be the sixth two-legged tie between the teams in the last seven seasons, with Madrid prevailing three times and City twice.
“It’s a big game for both teams,” Director of Football Hugo Viana said afterwards.
“We played against each other already in the group phase.
“It will be a really nice game to watch and a nice game to be involved in. Of course it’s like a final.
“We are happy to go there again and to have this kind of opponent and these kind of games.”
