Arsenal went unbeaten in the league phase, topping the standings with 24 points. Leverkusen, meanwhile, secured their place by getting the job done in Greece - winning 2-0 away before holding Olympiacos to a goalless draw on home soil despite a few nervy moments.
The German side have not progressed beyond the last‑16 since their run to the 2002 final, where they were beaten by Real Madrid. Chelsea are up against tougher opposition in PSG, the reigning champions.
Should Arsenal progress to the quarter-finals, they will face the winners of Bodo/Glimt vs Sporting.
