After five months on the sidelines, Jayden Danns has given Liverpool supporters reason to get excited once again. That's after the 20-year-old made his return to training for the first time since suffering a major hamstring injury in September.

The forward, who is the son of former Premier League midfielder Neil Danns, has been absent from the pitch since then. However, it's taken no time at all for the Reds gem to start displaying his class once more among his academy peers.

And supporters were largely singing off the same hymn sheet when given their first sight of the frontman in almost half a year. Danns has scored 29 goals in 48 games for Liverpool's under-18s and under-21s, but fans are hoping it won't be long until he can translate that form to the first team.

At the very least, he certainly has the frame to fit in around the senior ranks. And that was one common theme trending among the comments after Liverpool's official YouTube channel gave a behind-the-scenes look at his return to the field.

"Danns is huge," read one admirer in the comments section, who was clearly convinced the player has had a growth spurt during his absence. He was already hovering around the six-foot mark at the time of his injury, but at 20, it's plausible he's still yet to reach his vertical peak.

Others professed their excitement as a second commenter called Danns "the next starboy." Not every message was quite so coherent, however, as another simply exclaimed: "DANNS IS SOOOOO BACK."

One fan even begged the question as to whether the up-and-comer was ready to be thrown into first-team action. However, more responsible fans stepped in to remind said supporter they only risked delaying his development further by pushing him too quickly.

There are high hopes for what kind of future Danns has in front of him. Physically, he certainly looks the part in terms of specifications needed to succeed at the top level.

What's more, he's already scored three goals (all in the FA Cup) in 10 senior outings for his childhood club. He spent part of last season on loan at Sunderland but failed to make an appearance for the Black Cats due to a back injury.

He has his work cut out for him, too, considering the competition currently at Arne Slot's disposal. Alexander Isak has been sidelined for several months with a leg fracture, but the Premier League's record signing and Hugo Ekitike make for a tough duo to break up once fit.

For now, however, Danns' sole focus should lie in purely attaining full fitness himself. And it's clear he has a healthy portion of the club's fanbase rallying behind him in that regard.
