Bears trade update on Tyson Bagent reveals 'significant' asking price

The Chicago Bears are finally turning the corner, and it's thanks to Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson being a perfect match this past season.

Moving forward, the team is ready to contend for a Super Bowl. That begins this offseason and revolves around what Ryan Poles will do with some of the veterans on the roster who could be on the move.

Tyson Bagent, the backup to Williams, is one player who could be dealt this offseason. But, according to Tony Pauline of Essentiallysports.com, the trade demand the Bears have for Bagent doesn't bode well for a trade happening this offseason.

Bears update on Tyson Bagent doesn't bode well for trade

"There's been talk of teams interested in trading for Chicago Bears backup Tyson Bagent," Pauline reports, "but I'm told the only wya the team moves him is if they're offered a significant package of picks and/or players."

If the Bears are asking for a significant return for Bagent, the backup quarterback under contract for one more season, it's hard to imagine a team doing a deal.

Bagent has made four starts in his career and appeared in 12 games across the last three seasons. While he isn't the worst backup in the NFL by any means, the production isn't enough for the Bears to demand such a lofty offer.

Even though this year's quarterback draft class and free agent pool aren't great, the Bears' finding a team willing to spend so much on Bagent when he has had such limited experience in the NFL is hard to believe.

Some team could get desperate and offer a late Day 2 draft pick, or an early Day 3 pick that could convince the Bears to trade Bagent. However, it's far from a guarantee that the Bears will receive such offers.

Bagent, in his career, has 917 passing yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions. That's not nearly good enough to bring back a great return like Pauline indicates the Bears want.

While he might have some decent preseason stats, which included five passing touchdowns, one interception, and 511 passing yards in 2025, a team trading a significant package for Bagent is hard to imagine.
