The Seattle Seahawks created history when they defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 in the Super Bowl game, and lifted their second-ever Lombardi Trophy. Led by head coach Mike Macdonald, they completely dominated their opponents throughout the season, and were deservingly the winners of the prestigious trophy.
The celebrations have been ongoing since then, with the Super Bowl parade and the players vacationing as well. However, there is one ritual they are yet to do that every Super Bowl winner does.
Mike Macdonald says White House has not invited them yet
Almost every year, the winners of the Super Bowl game are invited to the White House where they meet with the U.S. President. It has happened since the Ronald Reagan era and most recently the Philadelphia Eagles visited last year. The Seahawks themselves visited during President Barack Obama’s tenure in 2014 when they won their first championship.

It was expected that a similar event would be held with the Seahawks this year. However, even after over two weeks have passed, it has not happened and many are wondering why this is the case. Some have even speculated the franchise might skip the traditional post-championship trip to Washington, D.C.
Seattle head coach Macdonald was asked about the issue during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. He clarified the issue by saying that they have not been invited yet by the White House. He said, “We haven’t got an invite yet. And then we’ll address it after that, after we get the invite.”
He added that he hopes an invite will be given soon, “We’ll wait for the invite and work through it.” and when asked about the chances of receiving one, “I would hope so. I mean, yeah… I don’t know. We’re going to get an invite, right? That’s how it works? Not really sure how it works. I think it’s just everybody involved, just like we do everything else.” Macdonald may not have gotten an invite from the White House yet, but he did receive a message from one of football’s biggest stars.
Mike Macdonald reveals Tom Brady post-Super Bowl message
Macdonald talked about how he got a message from none other than Tom Brady after winning Super Bowl 60. Despite being a Patriots legend, Brady congratulated his former team’s opponents. During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the Seahawks coach said he got a couple of hundred messages after winning the Lombardi Trophy.
He said, “Tom Brady texted me. That was cool. I did tell him, ‘Hey, thanks for stealing our offensive coordinator.” Brady co-owns the Las Vegas Raiders who have appointed Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their head coach. Macdonald didn’t reveal what Brady wrote in his message, but the host asked if it was “Way to go”, to which he simply replied “Yeah.”
Mike Macdonald will now prepare for the 2026 season as he chooses which talents to pick in the Draft as well.
