As the NFL Scouting Combine gets underway, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck was among the 319 prospects invited.

Beck is coming off his final season in college after transferring from Georgia to Miami. He became an integral part of the Hurricanes’ path through the College Football Playoff. However, it was his interception in the national championship game against Indiana that ultimately sealed the loss.

Nevertheless, Beck has shifted his focus to his pro career, and it begins at the combine, where he and other prospects will try to improve their draft position come April.

But just because Beck was invited and in attendance on February 27, speaking with reporters, there was still speculation about whether he would participate in on-field workouts.

Carson Beck Makes Combine Decision

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Beck has made his decision.

“Miami QB Carson Beck plans to throw at the Combine during QB drills on Saturday, per sources,” Schultz reported.

This is a significant move for Beck, who still has plenty of doubters despite what many viewed as a comeback season at Miami.

Beck looked like a first-round pick at the end of the 2023 season. In 14 appearances during his first year as Georgia’s starter, he led the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record while throwing for a career-high 3,941 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.

It was the following season when his draft stock dropped. His interceptions doubled, he threw for nearly 500 fewer yards — though he did tally 28 touchdowns — and, worse, he ended his season with a career-threatening UCL tear in his throwing arm during the SEC Championship Game.

Beck somehow worked his way back from that injury, beginning with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal taking a chance on him. Beck couldn’t even throw during spring practice and wasn’t cleared for full work until just weeks before the 2025 season began.

Even after being medically cleared, there were moments when his arm strength — once one of his biggest strengths — was questioned. After all, it hadn’t even been a full year since surgery. At times, he appeared to lose some velocity.

Now Beck will once again attempt to quiet the noise at the combine when quarterbacks participate in on-field workouts on February 28. He’ll try to show scouts his arm is fully healthy — or at least strong enough to be NFL-ready.

Carson Beck’s Draft Projection Heading Into 2026

Beck enters the combine with a prospect grade of 6.13, labeled as a “good backup” with the potential to develop into a starter, according to NFL Next Gen Stats.

“He works through progressions at a good pace and can throw with anticipation, but he loses track of safeties, throwing into hazardous spots,” NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein said.

“Beck’s decision-making showed more maturity in his final college season, but pressure can pull him back into old habits. He spins a catchable ball with a compact release, but spotty accuracy leads to pass breakups and a lower conversion rate on tight-window throws. Beck projects as a good backup with the potential to earn a starting job down the road, but he must continue developing game-managing instincts.”
