Liverpool are eyeing a move to strengthen their defence further this summer, despite having already sealed a deal to sign Jeremy Jacquet, according to TEAMtalk.
The Reds completed a move for the highly-rated French defender in January, with the player to make the move to Anfield in the summer as they look to find a long-term replacement for Virgil Van Dijk, as well as cover amid doubts over the futures of Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
But it's clear the club will need more than just Jacquet this summer, with Giovanni Leoni also dealing with a long-term knee injury, and they are targeting a top defender to come in who can make an immediate impact.

In recent years, after Van Dijk, one of the standout central defenders in Europe has been Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni. The 26-year-old has become a household name since moving to the San Siro back in 2017, racking up 291 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
Dubbed as 'world-class', the Italy international has a contract with Inter until 2028, but it's understood that he could be open to a move away from Serie A after the World Cup, and Liverpool are prepared to make a move for him.
"Liverpool are already looking at improvements to their squad for next season, and centre-back is an area they're going to want to strengthen," journalist Fraser Fletcher said.
"Another move to keep an eye on is Bastoni. He is interested in a move in the summer, it is something that is possible and Liverpool are one of the clubs who would be keen if they see that door open."
