The Green Bay Packers are preparing to see multiple players depart from their roster in free agency. Some of these players are not even going to receive a contract offer from the Packers, while others may see the team try to negotiate a return. One these that the team may want back is Quay Walker.
When the time came for Green Bay to make a decision on his fifth-year option, they chose to decline it. The reason they gave for that was because they were hopeful that they would be able to ink him to a long-term contract extension.
That, of course, has not happened. Now, the new league year is less than two weeks away and Walker is set to hit the open market, free to sign with any team that wants him.

In a recent article in which they identified the best free agent fits for every NFL team, ESPN chose the Las Vegas Raiders as the best place for Walker to land:
“The Raiders could use playmakers all across their defense, and both of last season’s starting linebackers are free agents. Walker had 128 combined tackles with the Packers last season and has sideline-to-sideline speed to track down running backs. He can be used as a blitzer as well. The Raiders would just need to make sure their other linebacker is strong in coverage, as that’s a weakness for Walker.”
Signing with the Raiders would potentially reunite Walker with former Packers cornerback Eric Stokes, who signed with Las Vegas last off-season. The two were also teammates in college at Georiga.
However, Stokes is a free agent himself and his return to the Raiders is not certain, though one would imagine he would be open to going back after they gave him a chance last year.
