Liverpool host West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday with both teams pursuing very different aims. Arne Slot’s side are locked in a tight race for Champions League qualification after edging past Nottingham Forest last time out, keeping them level on points with their top-four rivals and maintaining crucial momentum.

West Ham United, meanwhile, are battling at the opposite end of the table as they look to stay clear of the relegation zone. Florian Wirtz will miss Liverpool’s clash, while Jeremie Frimpong is available for selection at Anfield.

Wirtz remains sidelined with the back problem that kept him out of last weekend’s 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest, having been withdrawn from the starting line-up after the warm-up.

West Ham are set to be without forward Pablo Felipe, who has missed their last three matches with a calf injury, while midfielder Freddie Potts serves a suspension. Both teams also have long-term injury absentees.

For Liverpool, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, Alexander Isak, and Giovanni Leoni are out, while Lukasz Fabianski is sidelined for West Ham United.

Off the pitch, Liverpool academy graduate Trent Kone-Doherty has completed a €750,000 move to Norwegian club Molde FK, pending international clearance. The winger leaves after nearly four years with the Reds.

Kone-Doherty joined the Liverpool Academy in summer 2022 and featured regularly at U18, U19, and U21 levels. He also made two senior appearances, coming on as a substitute against Plymouth Argyle in the Emirates FA Cup in February 2025, and later against Crystal Palace last October.

The Reds have secured a significant sell-on clause and a buy-back option for the young winger, who was due to be out of contract at the end of the season. “It’s the perfect club for me to come to. I like the project I’ve been presented with here and I’m really excited to get started, says Trent. “I’m a player who likes to get the fans out of their seats. I always try to express myself on the field and be fearless.”

Sports director Ole Jakob Strandhagen said: “Trent is a technically good and fast winger who has shown his skills and not least potential in the final third during his time at Liverpool. At the same time, he has intensity and pressure in the game that benefits the team both with and without the ball.

“He is well educated at Liverpool, and we are very happy that he has chosen Molde as the next step in his development. The process has been good and we thank Liverpool for a good negotiating climate, despite the fact that they also had a strong desire to keep Trent. We look forward to further developing his offensive qualities at Aker Stadion and in the Eliteserien.”
