Man United have been linked to signing Nottingham Forest attacker Morgan Gibbs-White in the summer.

Man United are looking for potential replacements for Bruno Fernandes in the summer transfer window, as the Manchester United captain will have just one season left on his contract following the conclusion of this year.

United almost sold Fernandes to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in the summer transfer window last year for a fee of £100m, but the player didn’t want to leave Old Trafford, and was reportedly hurt by the fact that United considered the sale.

He has been excellent this season, but seeing as he is 31, it may be the right financial decision for Man United to sell him this summer and sign a replacement for the Portuguese international.

Man United eyeing Gibbs-White

Reports have said that Gibbs-White could cost upwards of £60m, which is no surprise considering his exceptional form for Forest over the past couple of seasons. He excels in the number 10 spot, which would make him the ideal replacement for Bruno Fernandes, especially because he is proven in the Premier League.

This season, Gibbs-White has made 27 appearances for Forest in the Premier League, scoring six goals and providing two assists, which is impressive despite going through four different managers this season.

However, £60m is a lot for a 26-year-old who has performed fairly well for a team battling against relegation this season, and Man United should consider other options, such as a player who has vast Champions League, international and Premier League success...

Man United should target Morgan Rogers instead

If the Red Devils are really serious about getting back to the levels of success they’ve had in the past, they need to sign the best players for the job. Fernandes is incredibly talented when it comes to both goal-scoring and chance creation, and Gibbs-White’s numbers of just six goals and two assists don’t match up.

Instead, the Red Devils should consider Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season under Unai Emery. He has also become a regular in Thomas Tuchel’s England side.

According to GiveMeSport, Rogers could be available for sale in the summer transfer window, and Chelsea is reportedly keen on signing him. But, assuming that Man United sell Fernandes in the summer, they can guarantee Rogers a huge role in being the midfielder’s successor for years to come, which would surely persuade him to make the move to Old Trafford.

Plus, Rogers is two years younger than Gibbs-White, and he has an estimated market value of just £61m. Despite that, he will command a higher fee, but nobody would doubt that he is a class above the Forest star.
