ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The Atlanta Falcons have fired assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis after “allegations” against him came to light.

The team [**announced**](https://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/atlanta-falcons-dismiss-latroy-lewis) Lewis’ firing on Friday afternoon in a brief statement, saying: “The Atlanta Falcons have dismissed assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis from his role.”

Earlier Friday, the Falcons sent Atlanta News First a statement saying: “We are aware of allegations regarding LaTroy Lewis. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”

On Feb. 10, the team announced they were hiring Lewis, who had spent the 2025 season as the defensive line coach at Toledo following three seasons (2022-24) at Michigan, where he was part of the team’s 2023 National Championship.

The Akron, Ohio, native began his coaching career in 2020 as a graduate assistant at Akron, where he mainly worked with outside linebackers, the Falcons said in a press release announcing his hiring.

Lewis then spent the 2021 season at South Alabama as a defensive graduate assistant, working primarily with special teams and nickelbacks. He spent the 2022 season as a special teams analyst at Wake Forest.

Lewis played defensive line at the University of Tennessee from 2013-16, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. He played two seasons in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders (2017), Houston Texans (2017-18) and Tennessee Titans (2018).
