Steelers Show Heavy Interest In Draft’s Top Receivers At NFL Combine

The NFL Scouting Combine is underway, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been meeting with some of the top prospects in Indianapolis. Their roster has multiple weaknesses, and wide receiver is near the top of that list.

Not surprisingly the Steelers have had formal meetings with a slew of wide receivers, including Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, USC’s Makai Lemon, and Washington’s Denzel Boston. All of those players are extremely talented and likely to be first-round picks.

Tate is largely seen as the No. 1 receiver in the draft, and with good reason. He’s only 21 years old and in three seasons at Ohio State, he was very productive. Tate finished his collegiate career with 121 catches for 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns and looks like he has the ability to be a leading receiver for an NFL team.

Meanwhile, Tyson has a few more question marks due to injury concerns. Also 21 years old, he was excellent when healthy, recording 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games for Arizona State in 2024. However, he missed all of 2023 with a serious knee injury, and he had to sit out for the end of the 2024 season due to fractured collarbone.

Tyson was also limited in 2025 because of a nagging hamstring injury. Despite that, he’s still seen as one of the top receivers in this draft. If Tyson can show teams that he’s healthy, he could hear his name called early on Day 1 of the draft.

Lemon turns 22 shortly after the draft, and last year he won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, annually given to the best receiver in college football. That was well-deserved, too, as Lemon caught 79 passes for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns in 12 games in 2025.

He’s drawn comparisons to Detroit Lions All-Pro receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Lemon is just as talented as Tyson and Tate, and unfortunately, that means it’s tough to envision him falling to the Steelers in the first round. However, if he is available, then they shouldn’t hesitate to select him.

Boston might not be in the same tier as those three players, but he’s still getting a lot of first-round buzz. He might be the Steelers’ most realistic option at pick No. 21. He’s similar to DK Metcalf in that he’s a big receiver, but the two win on the field in different ways. Boston eclipsed 800 yards and scored at least nine touchdowns in each of the past two seasons, showing solid production.

Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr. and Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion have also had formal meetings with the Steelers. While they might not be getting as much hype as some of the other receivers, they both could end up as first-round picks. Cooper was the No. 1 receiver for the team that won last year’s national championship, while Concepcion put up over 900 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025.

The Steelers have also met with a number of other receivers such as Antonio Williams, Elijah Sarratt, and Zachariah Branch. Those prospects aren’t expected to be first-round picks, so the Steelers are looking up and down at the board at this receiver class. It looks like they’ll attack that position at some point in the draft, perhaps early too.
