**Liverpool will face Galatasaray in the Champions League’s last 16.**
Arne Slot’s have already taken on the Istanbul outfit this season, suffering a 1-0 defeat in the league phase of Europe’s elite club competition in September.
Friday’s draw for the knockout stage pitted the Reds against their Turkish Super Lig counterparts, who ran out 7-5 aggregate winners over Juventus in the play-off round.
The first leg will take place at Rams Park on Tuesday, March 10 at 5.45pm with the return encounter at Anfield confirmed as an 8pm kick-off on Wednesday, March 18.
Galatasaray’s trip to Merseyside will be their first in 20 years, when they were on the receiving end of a 3-2 thriller during the Champions League’s 2006/07 group stage.
Should they overcome Okan Buruk’s side, Liverpool will face a quarter-final clash with the winner from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain’s last 16 match-up.
“We know in the away leg we will have to perform better than the last time we were in Istanbul back in September,” admitted Slot.
“That is our immediate challenge in this tie, especially as we know Galatasaray had such a positive result against Juventus to reach the last 16.
“But the main feeling is excitement because this is what we worked so hard for in the league stage.
“We wanted to be here and now we want to make the most of being here. We have important games in other competitions before the Champions League comes back around of course.
“So hopefully when the tie arrives we will be as ready for it as we can be.”
