The New York Jets are coming off another disappointing season, finishing 3-14 and looking toward the 2026 NFL Draft to potentially add a game-changing player.

New York currently has the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft behind the Las Vegas Raiders, who own the top pick and will presumably bring in Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza out of Indiana University.

Although much of the focus for the Jets’ brass will be on getting the No. 2 overall pick right on April 23, the team is already active on the trade market, recently sending pass rusher Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat.

Jets Unlikely to Trade Star WR Garrett Wilson

The Jets might not be done making trades, as speculation continues to swirl about potential moves during this NFL offseason. However, according to Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports, star wide receiver Garrett Wilson is unlikely to be among the notable players traded.

With the recent trade of Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans, there is speculation that more moves are on the way, and the New York Jets may continue to clean house. Trading Johnson comes months after the shocking in-season trades of Ahmad Gardner and Quinnen Williams. There is speculation the Jets could trade Garrett Wilson, but I’m told that’s unlikely to happen unless a massive offer the team can’t refuse is placed in front of Gang Green.

The Jets, led by general manager Darren Mougey, extended Wilson’s contract prior to last season, as they did with Gardner. But those close to the situation tell me the Jets don’t want to trade Wilson and “they love him,” which was an exact quote.

Wilson played in only seven games during the 2025 campaign, catching 36 passes for 395 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Jets May Try to Trade QB Justin Fields

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, who spoke with Jets reporter Eric Allen during the NFL scouting combine, New York may try to trade quarterback Justin Fields.

“I assume they will look into a possible trade,” Rapoport said. “He’s got some money due to him, I think it’s $10 (million) guaranteed. He is also a good guy, and so keeping him is not the worst thing in the world. Having him compete, be a backup, there are a lot of different options because he is a good person. So I could see all of those on the table.”

It seems as though all options are on the table for the Jets, and that should be the team’s mindset during the NFL offseason after such a disappointing 2025 campaign.

It’ll be interesting to see what moves are made moving forward and who might be taking snaps under center to start the 2026 NFL season, as it might be safe to assume Fields has played his last down for the Jets.
