2026 Combine Weekend: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday, and I hope yinz are doing well.

We’ve reached the NFL Scouting Combine. Things around the league are starting to pick up as teams get a close-up view of more than 300 draft prospects in Indianapolis. Throughout the week, players have been meeting with the media and revealing the teams they’ve had both formal and informal meetings among other things.

There is some other non-draft news, too. Another quarterback became available this week with Indianapolis allowing Anthony Richardson to seek a trade. Off the field, the NFLPA report cards were also leaked, with the Steelers unsurprisingly ranking low in several metrics, including their home field and facilities.

This weekend always has some sort of impact on draft stock, so it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on. After the Combine concludes, we will be fewer than two weeks away from the start of the league year and free agency, a big part of the NFL offseason.

As always, we’re here with you throughout the weekend for whatever news comes our way.

Have a safe and happy weekend.

Steelers Depot respondents named eight different players invited to the NFL Combine whom they believe the Steelers will draft: Washington WR Denzel Boston, Miami (FL) DB Keionte Scott, Ohio State DL Kayden McDonald, Missouri LB Josiah Trotter, Penn State S Zakee Wheatley, Oklahoma iOL Febechi Nwaiwu, San Diego State CB Chris Johnson, and Clemson DL Peter Woods. No doubt from Steelers Depot respondents. Guard Olaivavega Ioane was named the first Penn State player selected in the 2026 NFL draft by everyone. Peter-Petersen scoffed, “Is that a question? Who else is close to Vega? Wheatley is easily the second and far away IMHO.”

Q4: How many CBs will be taken in the first round?

Q5: By the year 2028, will Mike Tomlin be back as an NFL head coach?

Six of eight respondents say Mike Tomlin will not be back as an NFL head coach by 2028. In fact, many believe he is done coaching in the NFL. Newguy68 wrote, “I think he is done coaching. Will sit out for a year for time with family then move to either CBS / ESPN / NBC or Fox for Sunday NFL shows.”
