Mike Tomlin's Next Job Could Be Replacing Super Bowl-Winning Coach

It's been nearly a month-and-a-half since Mike Tomlin stepped down as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

His former team has already hired his replacement, former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, but Tomlin's next career move is still unknown.

Some are convinced he's done with coaching altogether, while others believe he's simply taking a year off before seeing what NFL jobs open up next offseason.

While both are plausible options, there's a growing sense that Tomlin is prepping himself for life beyond football, which is why The Athletic's Andrew Marchand named Tomlin as a potential replacement for former Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy on NBC's "Football Night in America."

"While NBC wants to revamp, the pool of potential analysts could make it difficult to do it in one fell swoop," Marchand wrote. "The No. 1 NFL TV studio target, former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, might be reluctant to enter TV."

Tomlin has been linked to television jobs before, and some think it's a natural transition for him if he truly is done coaching.

In 19 seasons with the Steelers, Tomlin compiled a 193-114-2 record with 13 playoff appearances, eight division titles, and one Super Bowl win. He also never had a losing season.

But with how his Steelers tenure ended - fans were calling for his job nearly all season - Tomlin may be turned off to coaching, and a television analyst role may be something that intrigues him.

Dungy, who drew some heat during Super Bowl weekend after declining to reveal whether or not he voted for former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He was with NBC for 17 seasons.
