Carson Beck opened the door to landing with the Cleveland Browns and providing competition for Shedder Sanders in 2026.
Last season, the Browns entered the preseason with four quarterbacks on the roster having drafted both Dillon Gabriel and Sanders. The room got whittled down following the trades of Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco, but full fitness and consistency were hard to come by.

Despite some steady showings from Sanders down the stretch, the Browns eventually finished 5-12. Two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski was fired, and the Browns have begun a new era under Todd Monken.

Thanks to Monken’s presence at the helm, Beck is interested in taking the reins under centre in Cleveland. Even if he is in competition with Dillon, Sanders, and a returning Deshaun Watson, Beck is ready to work with Monken again.
Beck spent three years with Monken at Georgia before transferring to Miami. Monken was the offensive coordinator for 34 of Beck’s games, with the quarterback throwing for 7,736 yards and 56 touchdowns with 18 interceptions.
“I love him personally,” Beck told reporters at the Combine in Indianapolis.
“I’ve actually known him since I was 7 or 8 years old. I played baseball with his son whenever he was the wide receivers coach with the Jags. That’s cool.
“I’ve been able to have a really good relationship with him over the years, and obviously at Georgia, he taught me a lot of what I know. He’s an amazing coach. I had the opportunity to talk with him a little bit the other day when I was done with all my interviews.

“We walked and chatted for a little bit. I love Coach Monk. He’s an awesome coach and great guy.”
Beck had a formal interview with the Browns, but the long-floundering AFC North franchise is not the only team he has met with. The 23-year-old has also met with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers, among others.

He is garnering interest from around the league, which makes sense given his six years of college experience as well as his penchant for playing winning football. But Beck - who is coming off leading Miami to a national championship berth — couldn’t hide his interest in playing under Monken in Cleveland.
“That would obviously be super cool,” Beck said.
“Any team that’s going to draft me, I’m super grateful for the opportunity, but if coach Monken were to be my coach again, obviously I really enjoyed him being my coach at the University of Georgia, and what I was able to learn from him there. So, I’d be super stoked.”
